IOMS President

Harald Lausen, D.O., M.A., FACOFP, FAAFP, a board certified osteopathic Family Physician from Springfield, IL, was elected President of the Illinois Osteopathic Medical Society (IOMS) during its recent Winter Scientific Seminar and Annual Meeting in Lombard, IL. The President is the highest rank of the Society, and terms are for one year.

Dr. Lausen is a board certified family physician practicing at Memorial Medical Center and St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. He is a graduate of Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine of Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Illinois, and of the University of Illinois at Springfield.

An Assistant Professor of Clinical Family and Community Medicine for Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, Dr. Lausen is also the Regional Director of Osteopathic Medical Education, Program Director for Osteopathic Family Medicine and the Clerkship Director for the Department of Family and Community Medicine. Dr. Lausen is also affiliated with the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine of the A. T. Still University in Missouri, for which he serves as Regional Assistant Dean for Medical Student Education and Chair of the Osteopathic Graduate Medical Education for their OPTI, the Osteopathic Postdoctoral Training Institutions.

Dr. Lausen has served as IOMS District 3 Trustee, as Legislative Advocacy Chair, and as Program Chair for IOMS Continuing Medical Education Programs. He was awarded the IOMS Distinguished Service Award in 2007, the highest honor the Society can bestow. Nationally, he serves as Secretary and Region 6 Trustee for the Association of Osteopathic Directors and Medical Educators, is designated a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), and in 2007 was selected for the Wyeth Emerging Leader Award by the American Osteopathic Foundation. Dr. Lausen serves on the Board of the Illinois State Society of the ACOFP.

He and his wife Jackie Lausen, DC - a Chiropractor with Lausen Integrated Health - reside in Springfield with their two daughters, Lauren and Ava.
