Illinois medical licenses, other
than residents, are up for renewal by July 31, 2008
Online renewal will begin 2-3 months
prior to July 31st, according to the State website, so begin checking
the renewal link below after May 1st.
The Illinois Department of Financial & Professional
Regulation has developed a program to allow Illinois licensees to
renew their license on the Internet at:
https://www.idfpr.com/dpr/RENEWAL/default.asp
The Internet renewal program was developed to be expedient, easy to use,
and secure. Licensees are prompted to enter their license number and
personal identification number and/or their social security number to
ensure communication is with the actual licensee. On entering a
combination of this personal information, the Internet renewal program
prompts the licensee to respond to the standard renewal questions and
requests a major credit card. Responses to the questions are stored in a
database and used the following day(s) to generate a license.
As Illinois law does not allow the agency
to pay credit card service fees, the agency is forced to ask the licensees
to use this service to pay $3 for each credit card-renewed license. The
addition of Touch Tone Telephone and Internet Renewals has been a huge
success for the agency. The Illinois Department of Professional Regulation
reports that approximately 12% of all renewals are done by electronic
means.
