Dear Colleagues,

As of February 1, 2009, The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services increased the physician reimbursement rates for several codes.  These include neonatal intensive care and adult preventive care.  In addition, the Maternal Child Health Add-ons for care provided by Illinois Health Connect PCPs that previously only applied to patients ages 0 to 20 have been expanded to apply to all patients regardless of age.  I am attaching two announcements.   Please share this good news with your members.   Don’t hesitate to contact me for questions.

Regards,
Margaret Kirkegaard

In order to assist PCP offices with educating patients about using their selected/assigned medical home, AHS has prepared an educational letter that can be distributed to patients who present to the wrong PCP office for care. The letter is available on the Illinois Health Connect website under the Client Materials section.

http://www.illinoishealthconnect.com/clientmaterials.aspx

Offices can download the letter, print it on office letterhead and give it to patients who are not registered to that office. Please assist us by informing your members that this letter is now available for use.

As of October 1, Illinois Health Connect began implementing Phase I of the referral program in the Northwest counties region. Primary Care Providers (PCPs) who see an IHC patient not assigned to them or an affiliated provider will need to obtain a referral from the assigned PCP for that visit. The referral policy will continue implementation from north to south over the next six months.

Illinois Health Connect worked with the Illinois Academy of Family Physicians to produce a seven minute video for PCPs to provide an overview of the referral program and the related policies. We encourage you to share this video with your membership to assist IHC’s efforts to educate patients and providers about the importance of receiving care at the designated medical home.
